Woody Point Pool Safety Inspections

Bayside homes, sloping blocks and pools that have been around for decades. Licensed pool safety inspections for Woody Point sales, leases and peace of mind, from an award-winning Peninsula inspector.

Local Knowledge

Know the Point Before You Inspect It

Woody Point is one of the Peninsula's oldest bayside suburbs, and many of its pools were built long before today's barrier rules. Over the years homes have been renovated, decks added and gardens have grown, and each of those changes can affect a pool fence that once passed without a problem.

The streets rising up from the foreshore and the jetty also mean plenty of sloping blocks. Where the ground changes level along a fence line, the barrier height has to be measured from the finished ground level outside the fence at every point, so a small retaining wall or garden step can be enough to cause a fail.

What We Check

Common Issues in Woody Point

Sloping Blocks & Retaining Walls

Fence heights are checked along the full length of the barrier, including where ground levels change and where steps or retaining walls could give a child a foothold.

Older Pools, Newer Renovations

Extensions, decks and new doors are checked for how they affect the barrier, including whether a wall of the house now forms part of the pool fence.

Coastal Hardware Wear

Salt air off Bramble Bay is hard on hinges, latches and gate springs. Every gate is tested to make sure it self-closes and self-latches from any open position.

Woody Point FAQs

Your Questions Answered

My Woody Point pool is decades old. Does it still have to meet the current standard?

Yes. All Queensland pools must now meet the current pool safety standard, regardless of when they were built. Some barriers that were fine when they went in need small changes today, and an inspection shows exactly what, if anything, needs work.

Does a balcony or deck overlooking the pool affect the inspection?

It can. Balconies, decks and windows near the pool are checked as part of the barrier, including anything on or near them that could be used to climb into the pool area. If a wall of the house forms part of the barrier, the windows and doors in that wall have extra requirements.

Is a reinspection free in Woody Point?

Yes. Woody Point is on the Redcliffe Peninsula, so if your pool gets a Form 26 nonconformity notice, one reinspection within the 3-month window is free once the listed items have been fixed.

I recently used Brisbane Pool Safety for a pool certification/compliance for an install that we did inside an existing pool fenced area. I found the advice and technical support to be great, and Niel's pragmatic approach to assist in ensuring the build was efficient at the same time compliant was excellent.
