Local Knowledge

Backyard Pools at the Gateway to the Peninsula

Rothwell sits where the Peninsula meets the mainland, close to Kippa-Ring, Mango Hill and Deception Bay. Much of the suburb is established family housing on generous blocks, and plenty of those backyards have a pool that has been part of family life for years.

Big backyards tend to collect things: sheds, play equipment, water tanks, pot plants and outdoor furniture. Anything that ends up in the non-climbable zone outside the pool fence can give a child a way over, which makes it one of the most common reasons a family pool fails an inspection.

What We Check

Common Issues in Rothwell

Non-Climbable Zones

The 900mm zone outside the fence is checked for sheds, tanks, play equipment, garden beds and anything else that could be climbed.

Boundary Fences

Where a boundary fence forms part of the pool barrier, different height and climbability rules apply. It is checked against those rules from both sides wherever we can.

Gates & Side Access

Pool gates are tested to make sure they self-close and self-latch, swing outwards away from the pool and have latches at a compliant height.

Every Rothwell Inspection Includes

  • A full check of the pool barrier against the Queensland pool safety standard
  • Form 23 pool safety certificate issued and lodged with the QBCC the same day when the pool complies
  • Video repair guidance with every Form 26 nonconformity notice, to pass on to your tradie
  • Inspection by Neil Sharp, QBCC Licence PS15235214

Rothwell FAQs

Your Questions Answered

We have a trampoline and a shed near the pool fence. Will that fail?

It depends on where they sit. Anything that could be climbed within 900mm of the outside of the fence can cause a fail. Often the simplest fix is moving it, and the video guidance that comes with a Form 26 shows exactly which items need attention.

I'm renting out my Rothwell house. When do I need a certificate?

Before you enter into a lease, the property needs a current Form 23 pool safety certificate. For a house with its own pool, a certificate is valid for two years, so check the expiry date well before each new lease.

Is a reinspection free in Rothwell?

Yes. Rothwell is inside our free reinspection area, so if your pool gets a Form 26 nonconformity notice, one reinspection within the 3-month window is free once the listed items have been fixed.

I recently used Brisbane Pool Safety for a pool certification/compliance for an install that we did inside an existing pool fenced area. I found the advice and technical support to be great, and Niel's pragmatic approach to assist in ensuring the build was efficient at the same time compliant was excellent.
