I was recently asked during a pool safety inspection if it is possible to catch Covid-19 while swimming in a pool. The good news is that the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) are not aware of any reports of the COVID-19 virus spreading through water in pools, spas or water parks. It is still important that when you are swimming in public pools that you continue to use COVID-19 prevention measures such as maintaining a safe distance from other swimmers. The length of a pool noodle is a good measurement of how far aware you should be from other pool users. I do not recommend that you wear a surgical or cloth mask while swimming with your head underwater. I can see it having similar outcomes to being waterboarded.
